Renovation of Chaleur Regional Hospital: opening of the new expansion

Bathurst, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 – A major milestone has been reached in the modernization of Chaleur Regional Hospital. We are pleased to announce the opening of the main entrance to the hospital’s new expansion.

Starting today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the new spaces will house phlebotomy (blood collection), admissions, reception, the Foundation and accounts receivable services. The appointment booking area will be relocated on September 28.

For the time being, these changes will have no impact on your visit to the hospital or your care journey.

To support patients, visitors and staff during this transition period, temporary and permanent signage will be installed inside and outside the hospital. Staff members and volunteers will also be on site to help direct patients and visitors.

“This opening marks the culmination of several years of planning, construction and preparation. These new, modern spaces are designed to better meet the needs of the population while providing our teams with a functional, welcoming work environment that is adapted to their realities,” said Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network.

Over the coming weeks, several services will gradually move into their new spaces according to an established schedule to ensure a safe transition and maintain continuity of care and services.

These changes will create spaces that are better suited to the needs of the population and support the delivery of high-quality care and services.

The next steps will be communicated at the appropriate time as work progresses and services are relocated.

A web page dedicated to the transition project has been created to keep the public informed about the progress of the work, service relocations and key project milestones.
